A Divine Love Letter

I believe that I have received a love letter from the heart of God to all who are currently seeking Him.

The love letter is actually the last two sentences at the end of this discourse before the addendum. But, to shed some light from my ongoing, unlearning, and experience of God’s love, I first share some background thoughts. I will prefix my thoughts by saying that I know only in part. Learning from the Holy Spirit and other brothers and sisters is an essential part of my ongoing transformation.

What I’m coming to understand is that God is always is in control but was willing to cede some control to humanity in order to have a true relationship.

For a relationship to occur between two parties both parties have to choose on an equal footing or it is abuse. God is love; there is no abuse or evil in God. Therefore, God had to cede some control and give humanity a will. God has extended an invitation to every single human being. But, it is not by force, we all have to choose whether we are willing to accept the invitation.

The process of confirming a relationship is known as a covenant. Therefore as part of this invitation, God has already pre-signed His part of the covenant to all of humanity. This is the magnitude of His love for us.

There is only one covenant. The Old Covenant and the New Covenant are one and the same; I will meet you there.

For adherents of The Abrahamic Faiths, the old Covenant was shown to Moses, for the rest, the old Covenant was manifest in the existence of creation.

However, the old covenant showed it was unachievable through the human spirit alone because of our sinful flesh. Those who came close in the old covenant had an outside-in experience of God but it was non-sustainable.

What we think of as the New Covenant is the ratification of the already existing covenant by the Sacrifice of Jesus which gave us access to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and an inside-out experience of God.

Most religions, including the Abrahamic ones (Judaism, Islam & Christianity) are essentially trying to achieve the same thing. It is the desire of any honest human heart. “I am incomplete, I need God to complete me.” Where we all fall short, and I’m including religious Christians like myself here, is that we try to use a man made system or formulas to achieve that oneness.

True Christianity is NOT a religion. It is a rebirth. Accepting Jesus’ Sacrifice is the start of a new birth. The Holy Spirit indwells in a human heart and begins a transformative process to recreate Christ in that human heart. This process is a mystery and requires multiple iterations, climbing up mountains, going through valleys, day & night seasons, dry and wet seasons, summer, autumn, winter & spring seasons, the path is different for each individual.

From my current observation and experience, the only common necessary ingredients are surrender to God by accepting Jesus’ sacrifice, regular communication with God and regular reading of the Word of God. But even walking through how to use these ingredients appropriately are a process that requires the Holy Spirit’s guidance. I have also observed that The Holy Spirit can also lead us to the right teachers and coaches (or pastors) that can explain to us in a way we understand. Some maybe for a season and some life-long.

It is an unforced rhythm of grace filled with seeming paradoxes. God is three ( God the Father, God the Holy Spirit & God the Son – Trinity) & yet there is only one God. To gain your life, you must lose it. To be a leader, you must be a servant. To achieve maturity, you must have child-like faith. Only the Spirit, can teach how an individual can live out these paradoxes.

This is the glory. Oneness with God. Accepting Jesus’ sacrifice births God (the Holy Spirit) in us (immediate) and this in turn births Christ in us (a lifelong process).

This is why the process is called “Christianity”. It was never meant to be a religion. Religion is frustration. Christianity is Glory!

So in closing, this Valentine’s Day of 2021, this is the love letter.

I am still right where You are, waiting as I have always been. Will you let Me in?

Please read the next two blog posts, “The Grace of God” & “The Glory of God” to understand more.

These are some of my Scripture References to back up up my background thoughts:

“It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.”

Proverbs 25:2 NKJV

“Place inside the Ark the stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, which I will give to you. Then put the atonement cover on top of the Ark. I will meet with you there and talk to you from above the atonement cover between the gold cherubim that hover over the Ark of the Covenant.”

Exodus 25:21-22 NLT

“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.”

Romans 1:20-23 NLT

“If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.”

Jeremiah 29:13 NLT

““Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”

Revelation 3:20 NLT

“So we are made right with God through faith and not by obeying the law. After all, is God the God of the Jews only? Isn’t he also the God of the Gentiles? Of course he is. There is only one God, and he makes people right with himself only by faith, whether they are Jews or Gentiles. Well then, if we emphasize faith, does this mean that we can forget about the law? Of course not! In fact, only when we have faith do we truly fulfill the law.”

Romans 3:28-31 NLT

“He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.”

2 Corinthians 3:6 NLT

“The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”

John 6:63 NLT

“Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.””

John 3:5-8 NLT

““Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.””

Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

Colossians 1:27 NKJV
