So far, 2020 has been a year many would like to restart.
The shocking speed at which the entire world has been forcibly, uncontrollably, lunged head-first into collective discomfort with vastly increased intensity. The initial shock was heartbreak (MegXit – Brits you know it hurt a little but how trifling does it seem now).
Then came pain (the loss of Kobe and his daughter and the other passengers – what a tragic loss, much of the world was in mourning).
Then came total chaos – the dreaded, inexplicable ‘RONA.
How did she get all up on all of us soo fast and soo destructively?
The world as we knew it was forever changed.
Enter mass hysteria fueled by the 24 hour news and social media feed cycle.
As a child of God, I had questions – this was not the 2020 I had envisioned.
Then God reminded me of something He showed me in 2018 from the life of Moses.
“And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” -Exodus 3:2-4 NKJV
The bush that burns but does not consume – the purifying fire of affliction caused by the enemy, but allowed by God to be used as a pruning tool.
This is what the Coronavirus represents.
Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” Moreover God said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you. This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’” -Exodus 3: 13-15 NKJV
Every believer has to choose between one of two paths when faced with the fire of affliction.
(It just so happens that the entire world is currently going through a collective affliction but each individual still has to make a choice!)
The Devil’s purpose is for the christian to deny God
God’s purpose is for the christian to know Him more
We all get to choose whose purpose we fulfill
For me there was only one choice…
I was placed in your care from birth. From my mother's womb you have been my God. Psalm 22: 10
I know only One person whom I can trust and have trusted since the day I was born and even though I don’t understand all that is happening I will continue to hold unto and trust in YHWH, My God.
